Joe Gustafson

CEO & Founder

Identifying a pressing need in how companies delivered product knowledge, training, and important business communications, Joe founded Brainshark in 1999 with a vision to create a way for a company's knowledge experts to accelerate the flow of information to their audiences in a highly effective format. Under Joe's leadership, Brainshark has become the leader in multimedia business communications and a successful SaaS company with thousands of customers, including a third of the Fortune 100.

Joe is an experienced leader in the IT and technology-based training industry. Prior to founding Brainshark, Joe was the founder and CEO of Relational Courseware, Inc. (RCI), a privately held company that produced and marketed self-paced, technology-delivered training products for IT audiences. RCI's OEM partners included Oracle Corp, Powersoft, NCR, Sybase and others. RCI was recognized for its visionary approach of employing object-oriented techniques to training delivery. In 1996, RCI was acquired by Gartner, where Joe served as Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning for its Learning subsidiary until leaving to found Brainshark.
