SlideShark: Upload Files Directly From Your iPad

We just released a new version of SlideShark (v.1.2) with a key feature that many users have been asking for.  In addition to uploading slides to your SlideShark account from your computer, you can now push PowerPoint files directly from your iPad.  Use SlideShark to view and present presentations emailed to you as attachments; files typically accessed from cloud storage services (e.g. Dropbox, Box.net); or decks located in file management Apps (e.g. GoodReader).  Simply use the Open In feature located in each one of these apps and select SlideShark.  This will upload the file to your online account and convert it for iPad use.  You can then download it to your iPad and view or present it locally with the SlideShark app – no internet connection required.

Here are a few screenshots that show these cases:

Email Attachment: tap and hold (“long press”) the attachment icon to select Open in “SlideShark”

Cloud Storage Services: Access your cloud storage service, like Dropbox, by tapping the rectangle+arrow button in the upper right and selecting Open In “SlideShark”.

File Management Apps: There is similar functionality in file management apps like GoodReader. In this case, the rectangle+arrow button is located in the bottom tool bar.

So download and enjoy the latest version of SlideShark (v.1.2.)

In addition to this great new feature, we’ve changed the starting account storage to 100MB.  This will give you greater flexibility to upload more and larger presentations.

Thank you to all who have already submitted some great reviews and posted amazing blogs!  And thank you to the press for making SlideShark so popular.

If SlideShark helps you today, please send some love with an AppStore review

If you have questions or ideas for future features, tap Give Feedback in the app or email us: feedback@slideshark.com.

And if you experience technical issues, tap Contact Support in the app or email support@slideshark.com.

Enjoy!  We’ll continue to develop more!

Monte,

Assuming you've downloaded the latest version - the iPad only allows for 10 apps to be displayed using the "Open-In" function. Unfortunately, that's just the way the iPad is and you can't reconfigure this.

The work around is to delete one of the apps that is on the list allowing for SlideShark to appear. Another possible workaround is to delete and reinstall the SlideShark app, which will push one of the other available apps for the "open in" function off of the list.

Let us know if this still doesn't work.

How do I get SlideShark as one of the options when I click on "Open In"?

George,

Assuming that you have both your iPad and Apple TV successfully connected to the same network, you can project.

Your set of devices MUST meet the following minimum requirements:

- iPad 2 (with iOS 5 or later)

- Apple TV (2nd generation) running software version 4.4 or later

- Wireless network; optionally, a wired connection (via an Apple Digital AV Adapter or VGA Adapter) can be used.

Then you should be able to accomplish AirPlay Mirroring.

Hope this helps!

Can I use this wirelessly by connecting a projector to apple tv and then use Air Play? This would eliminate the need for a cable from the iPad to the tv/projector! Thanks

Richard - do you mean that when you press to open the attachment in your email, the option to "Open with" SlideShark doesn't come up? Or it simply doesn't let you open an attachment in your email at all?

Great app, it still won't allow me to open straight from the mail app to slideshark though on my iPad 2. It doesn't even give me the option on press and long hold.

Hi Allison,

The SlideShark app doesn’t currently support embedded videos, but other Brainshark products do! Our Enterprise and Individual Brainshark products enable you to quickly create and share those video testimonials that will play on iPads and any other mobile device out there. Check out our home page to learn more.

I love this app, but there is a feature that I wish could work in our presentations - we have video testimonials in our presentations. It will not load them as videos when saved to iPad format. Will the newest update change this? WE need to be able to access our video testimonials within our ppt. presentation. Let me know-thanks for the cool APP. :)

@John - that's a great idea! We currently don't have remote functionality but that's something we're looking into as a future enhancement. In agreement that this would be an awesome addition.

@José - we're sorry to dissapoint but we do appreciate your feedback. Like Dave mentioned below, although we don't support first gen projection now, we definitely have it on our radar and are working on how/when we can get this into the product. Happy to know you're willing to pay for it :)

@ Dr. Kamal - very glad you found SlideShark useful!

Get app but very disappointed that I cannot project a presentation on my iPad (first gen). I would pay for that functionality. Everyone in our company uses iPads, we are all disappointed.

You saved a lot of time for me searching for my presentations, thank you once again,

I have an older version installed and just got notification of the new release on Nov 17. I can see the new version posted on your site but unable to install/update because the button indicates already installed.

@Brian, @Maarten - SlideShark does not currently support embedded videos but we're continuing to iterate on the product based on feedback and testing. There may very well be plans to add this in the future, but I can't make any guarantees at this point.

@Dan - 1st gen projection is a similar story. Although the SlideShark App does work on the 1st generation iPad, the projection component is not supported on this device. Like I mentioned to Brian and Maarten, we're considering all requests that come through the door and analyzing the possibility of expanding this feature.

@RichH - you would have to install the new version from the AppStore. Here is the link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/slideshark-powerpoint-presentations/id471369684?ls=1&mt=8

If you're still having problems, I would recommend contacting our Support Team:

Support [at] SlideShark.com or 781-370-8222

They should be able to help you work through the problem.

SlideShark is great, works very well. One thing missing is the ability to add embedded video ... it worked ones, but we cannot get it to work anymore. All tips and tricks are welcome, as this is a much have feature for us. Thanks.

Downloaded this app and then found out it won't work with 1st gen Ipad - can't get it to put my PP's on the screen at all.

So far I have been pretty happy with this product. One question I have is regarding embedded videos. Is there any way those can be used? If not, is there any plan to add this feature in the future?
