Brainshark CEO Joe Gustafson Named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2010 Award Finalist in New England

WALTHAM, Mass. — May 25, 2010 — Brainshark, Inc., the leader in on-demand multimedia for business, today announced that CEO Joe Gustafson is a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2010 Award for the New England region. A seasoned entrepreneur with extensive experience in the IT and technology-based training industries, Gustafson founded Brainshark in 1999 to dramatically improve the way businesses and businesspeople communicate.

According to Ernst & Young LLP, the awards program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate extraordinary success in the areas of innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Gustafson was selected as a finalist from nearly 80 nominations by a panel of independent judges. Award winners will be announced at a special gala event on June 24, 2010, at the Boston Renaissance Waterfront Hotel.

"Entrepreneurship is especially vital as our nation recovers from recession," said Kristin Keating, Ernst & Young LLP Entrepreneur Of The Year Program Chair for New England. "These finalists create jobs in our area, encouraging healthy growth, development and innovation in the local economy."

Under Gustafson's leadership, Brainshark has averaged a 31% year-over-year growth rate throughout the last decade – doubling its profits last year – and is growing its headcount by more than 1/3 throughout 2010. Companies use Brainshark's award-winning platform to create, share and track the impact of voice-enriched, multimedia presentations. With one Brainshark presentation viewed every 3.5 seconds in locations across the world, companies use Brainshark to improve the reach and results of their communications – reducing the costs associated with travel, print and Web conferencing by up to 90%. This past year, Brainshark launched a free site,, which allows individuals to use Brainshark's technology at no cost to create powerful, voice-enriched presentations that are instantly available online.

"It's a great honor to be recognized by Ernst & Young as a finalist for this year's Entrepreneur Of The Year Award," Gustafson said. "This acknowledgment also celebrates the success of the talented and devoted team at Brainshark, where we are committed to providing solutions that let anyone quickly and cost-effectively create high-impact multimedia. We look forward to continuing to execute on that commitment and foster customer success."
