Brainshark Featured on Apps.gov Site, the GSAs New Cloud Computing Storefront
WALTHAM, Mass. — December 9, 2009 — Brainshark, Inc., the leader in on-demand presentations, today announced it has been selected for inclusion in the General Services Administration’s (GSA) cloud computing storefront, Apps.gov. Among the earliest of applications selected for inclusion on the recently launched Apps.gov portal, Brainshark Standard Edition can now be easily accessed by government agencies seeking to extend the reach of their communications, and reduce the cost and time of travel.
Apps.gov enables federal government organizations to easily purchase cloud computing applications for which the GSA has already negotiated terms of service. Now, government agencies have a streamlined, hassle-free mechanism for accessing and purchasing Brainshark, and can immediately realize the benefits of using multimedia presentations to increase communications effectiveness, speed and measurability. Brainshark makes it fast and easy for anyone to create and deliver voice-enriched presentations that are available online, on demand. It is particularly compelling for distributing rapid communications to a dispersed audience, launching training programs, reducing costly and time-consuming travel, and delivering ongoing communications such as procedure and policy information, project updates, and messages for constituents and stakeholders.
“Apps.gov marks a milestone in the adoption of cloud computing and the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, and enables the government sector to access rapidly deployable, best-in-class solutions for a low cost and at low risk,” said Brainshark CEO Joe Gustafson. “Brainshark has a 10-year track record in delivering SaaS solutions running on a cloud infrastructure for commercial enterprises – and in demonstrating consistently high levels of service, security and reliability. We’re pleased to be a part of this important initiative of the Federal CIO Council and to extend the productivity-enhancing benefits of Brainshark to federal organizations.”
The Federal Chief Information Officer (CIO) Council, under the guidance of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and Federal CIO Vivek Kundra, established the Cloud Computing Initiative to fulfill the president's objectives for cloud computing. According to the Apps.gov Web site, its overall objective is to create a more agile federal enterprise, where services can be provisioned to meet business needs. The cloud computing model offers a cost-effective, service-oriented approach for sharing computing resources, whereby common infrastructure, applications, information and solutions can be utilized across the government. The SaaS model is a form of service delivery of cloud computing as defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
Brainshark’s SaaS applications and cloud infrastructure provide the security, scalability, flexibility and reliability that government agencies demand. Brainshark is part of both the Productivity Apps and Business Apps sections of the Apps.gov site, and can be purchased as a monthly or annual subscription using a credit card. Brainshark’s GSA partner in serving federal government organizations is IT Federal Sales, LLC, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB).
