SlideShark Update: Presenter Mode with Slide Notes^* iPad 1 Projection^* and more

(UPDATE: Guess what -- we've added more stuff! Check out our SlideShark topic page for details on the latest SlideShark features and releases, including support for the iPhone and iPod touch!)

We’ve been getting a tremendous amount of positive feedback and feature requests from SlideShark users all over the world.  Two requests that have consistently come up are the ability to view PowerPoint notes and enabling iPad1 users with projection support (VGA/HDMI). We’re pleased to announce that the latest version of SlideShark, v1.6, adds both of these enhancements and more.

In addition, we’ve accelerated the PowerPoint conversion process by 3-5X, and the speed of each slide transition within the app is faster too! To top it off, for SlideShark Plus and Team Edition (TE) users, we have some amazing new visual reporting available inside the App. Both Plus and TE users can now see viewing details for presentations shared online, and TE admin users can see details on presentation usage by team members.

Presenter Mode (iPad 2 and the New iPad)

Our new Presenter Mode allows iPad 2 and New iPad users to rehearse and even present with two new layouts: with or without your slide notes – this is in addition to the full screen view you’ve already experienced. And when you are connected to a projector or TV, only your slides will be seen by your audience. This will prevent them from peaking at your catalog of presentations or slide tray should you decide to jump around while presenting. To enhance your navigation, you will see your last and next slide in Presenter Mode as well as animation counter indicating how many animations you have on each slide.  Finally, there are also two handy timers you can use to know how much time you’ve spent on each slide and on the entire presentation. Note that in Presenter Mode, advancing animations and slides and the laser pointer work exactly the same as with full-screen viewing – just tap and swipe to navigate and tap-and-hold for laser pointing on the image of the slide you’re on.

iPad 1 Projection

If you’re using an iPad 1, today’s a great day! You can now plug into a projector or TV using the Apple VGA or HDMI adaptor (“dongle”). Both your iPad and projection will display the full screen view, and when you switch between presentations or display the slide tray while presenting, your audience will see only your slides.

Visual Reporting Dashboard

We’ve implemented some great visual reporting for SlideShark Plus and Team Edition users on the viewing activity of content. All SlideShark users can share presentations for online viewing via web link by email or social media. We introduced this capability in the last release to enhance a user’s ability to follow up after presentations. Plus and Team Edition users can now access visual reporting on the views of these shared presentations to easily prioritize next steps and additional follow up activity. This reporting complements the instant email alerts that debuted with “Share” in v1.5. For Team Edition admin users, there is additional view reporting on the views and usage of Team Content within the account by team members. This provides Team Edition admins with visibility into how content is being used and by whom. For both shared presentations and Team Content, the reporting includes total views and shared views, view dates, viewer information, view duration, # of slides viewed, % of total viewed, and the source of the view (email, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, other). By tapping on any of the view details, you can access the same slide-by-slide view details that are included in the instant email alerts.

Faster, please

As you may have already noticed, we’ve improved our conversion engines to make optimizing your file for the iPad blazingly fast. We’ve managed to improve the conversion time by 3-5X! In addition, we’ve made some tweaks to the App itself to ensure that moving from slide to slide is even quicker than ever (no more spinning wheel!)

Wow…we’re really excited to share this great update to the App and we certainly hope you’re excited about it too! Keep your suggestions coming and watch for what’s coming next on our new Product Evolution page on the website.

Also, if you haven’t had a chance to post a review to the App Store, we would greatly appreciate it. But if you find issues or have questions, please get in touch with our Support Team directly. They’re always there to lend a hand.

As always, enjoy SlideShark!
