Boston Shark Meet Conference Makes a Big Splash

Boston Shark Meet Conference Makes a Big Splash
November 15, 2012

Last Tuesday we hosted the first annual Boston Shark Meet Conference, and we were thrilled with the turnout and feedback from our guests! Over 100 people attended the Shark Meet to learn how to create more engaging live and on-demand presentations.

The day’s events kicked off with a keynote address by TED speaker, Joe Sabia, on the power of storytelling. Joe wowed the audience with his six principles for creative storytelling, and energized the group for an afternoon packed with informative sessions that included eLearning, PowerPoint animations, and video creation. You can watch Joe's full talk below.

The keynote address was followed by demos and networking lunches where attendees had the chance to learn more about Brainshark and SlideShark, and engage with our product and subject matter experts.

In the afternoon, attendees created their own schedules by choosing two of six in-depth breakout sessions and hands-on workshops presented by Brainshark Partners (BrightCarbon & Kineo), as well as Brainshark experts in demand generation, content creation and learning and development. In the hands-on sessions, attendees got the chance to delve into PowerPoint and learn how to animate slides, create a video from start to finish, and enhance their Brainshark presentations with engaging scripts and graphics.  Visit this page for a complete list of breakout sessions.

If you would like to learn more about these topics, please visit our Shark Meet Resources page for tips and tricks, PowerPoint animation templates, webinar replays, and much more!

We also added a fun twist to the Shark Meet by introducing the Brainiac Bar as an additional resource for our guests. At the Brainiac Bar attendees got their product questions answered, discussed their uses of Brainshark and SlideShark, and spun our now famous prize wheel for a chance to win some Brainshark swag and enter our iPad drawing!

As an extension of the Shark Meet, we have one more opportunity to win an iPad 3. Create and submit a Brainshark presentation by the end of the year (12/31/12) which uses one of the 6 principles Joe discussed in his keynote. If you do not have a Brainshark account and would like to participate, let me know and I will set you up.  To see his 6 principles, view Joe Sabia’s presentation on the Shark Meet Resources Page.

Thanks to all who were able to attend. We were thrilled to be able to host this event, and are already looking forward to next year’s Shark Meet! Make sure to visit our Shark Meet Resources Page, as well as our event calendar for more information about upcoming events.
