Awards season has officially ended -- culminating in the 2013 Brainshark Sharkie Awards on April 3rd. Even though the event only had a virtual red carpet, there were star-sightings aplenty as each of this year’s stellar Sharkie winners were announced and celebrated for their achievements.
Sharkie submissions were assessed by Brainshark employees, an expert panel, and our partner sponsors— BrightCarbon, Eloqua, CGI Interactive, and LeadFabric – and it was unanimously agreed that the 5th annual Sharkies brought not only the best overall quality of presentations, but also the hardest to judge. Lionel Dewier of LeadFabric summed up the submissions perfectly during the Awards Ceremony when he said, “[The presentations] demonstrated many more use cases…making more use of Brainshark capabilities...pushing audiences to engage further.”
Ultimately, it was the Brainshark customers and viewers who had the final say and determined the rankings in the public voting round.
So who took home the gold? Upsetting 2-time champion Franklin Templeton and joining the ranks of Aviva and Grange, Plantronics claimed the grand prize, with an external training presentation that razzle-dazzled everyone.

In an interview with Diana LeClair about the process behind the Plantronics presentation, she hit it right on the head when she said the goal of the mobile-minded module was to “enable sales reps to view [the content] whenever and however they choose” and to make it “as interactive and engaging as possible to enable the content to be retained.” All of these objectives – and more-- were certainly accomplished by this Presentation of the Year!
We were also thrilled to hear from Jordan Voskuil, mastermind behind Forsythe Technology’s voiceless bronze-clinching presentation that was “an open forum to talk about business issues….making a technical article more fun,” and Lisa Cummings, the visionary from Corporate Visions who created their memorable, silver-snagging employee recruitment presentation through the cunning use of Sparkol and PowerPoint.
All in all, the event, MC’ed by Brainshark’s VP Marketing, Joan Babinski, and Customer Community Specialist, Allison Wahl, was a smashing success, celebrating not only the winners, but all of the ways that Brainshark customers are creating killer content and enabling their business communications.
