Did you know that 73% of Brainshark presentations contain at least one animation? However, animating content in PowerPoint is only the first step for your Brainshark presentations, so it is very common to hear:
“How can I effectively set up animations in myBrainshark?”
Prime your PowerPoint
It all begins with using animations, and using them well. Here are some things to keep in mind when creating your slides in PowerPoint:
Never have too many animations. While it is important to keep content flowing, clogging up a slide with too many animations can be distracting.
Similarly, “Exciting” effects like swirling in and out or bouncing may seem fun and engaging, but can often have the opposite effect, taking attention away from the content itself and giving the animation all of the attention.
If you want to be able to control an animation in myBrainshark, set it to on-click. All automated animations (like “with previous,” “after previous,” or timed animations) will fire accordingly.
Even if you are not PowerPoint savvy or do not have the time to create killer animations, you can still set up great, fluid slides. These templates can be downloaded and used at will – to customize for your own content or to deconstruct the animations so you can re-build them later.
Once your slides are set and uploaded into myBrainshark, you can fire the animations two ways:
1. While recording
If you have an on-click animation on your slide, once you start to record you will see a blue “Next on-click animation” button. Click this to fire your animation – similar to how you would click to fire while presenting a PowerPoint slide deck. However, keep in mind that this option only appears once you have clicked to start recording.
2. Manual trigger
When you go in to edit your slides (through Manage Slides), you will see the “On-click animation timings” field. Simply designate the seconds at which you would like the on-click animation(s) to fire. For example, to have the animations fire at 0:05 and 0:07, you would put “5,7” in the field.
Some considerations while you set animations:·
If you have animations set to fire with or after the on-click animation, only the on-click animation needs to be triggered (the automated animations will follow accordingly).
Any timings set during recording will appear in the “On-click Animation timings” field, but can be modified manually as well.
Each animation needs to have a unique trigger timing (for example, “2,2,2” would not work). To have animations fire together, you must set this up in PowerPoint.
Animation timings cannot be set beyond the slide duration. Therefore, if your slide is 50 seconds long and you set an animation to fire at “54,” the animation will not fire.
Give automated animations time to complete. If an animation sequence lasts 10 seconds but you set it to fire at the end of your slide, animations will be cut off.
All animation timings must be in seconds. For example, an animation set to fire at 1:05 of your slide would appear as “65” in the on-click animation timings field.
Both options can be used according to your need and comfort level, and animation timings can be adjusted at any point.
